Cyrus, meanwhile, realizes that Elan's touch relieves the agony caused by his pureblood heritage and keeps the assistant constantly at his side. Each mistakenly believes the other is human, so both conceal their nature. Mei appears to be a chaotic matchmaker but is secretly a vampire hunter, while alliance chief Vincent plans to use Elan to destroy Cyrus and launch a vampire uprising. Their office romance is drawn into a battle over the future of humans and bloodkind.
